October 11 to 12, 2011, Dr. M. C. Nandeesha, Dean and professor of Fisheries College and Research Institute (FCRI) of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, visited Fisheries College (FC) of Guangdong Ocean University, accompanied by two professors, Dr. K Riji John and Dr. R Jeya Shakila. Warm receptions were extended by Prof. Jian Jichang, Dean of FC , who visited FCRI in May, 2011.
The visiting scholars had a successful three-hour seminar with a dozen of professors and doctors of FC in the ten research fields including Aquatic Disease, Fish Farming, Marine Pearl, Fish Physiology, Marine Invertebrate, Marine Fisheries and Technology, Nutrition and Feed of Aquatic Animals, Aquatic Ecology and Environment, Marine Biotechnology and Prawn Breeding and Farming. The symposium was chaired by FC dean and assisted by the deputy director of GDOU international. And the visitors conducted a detailed one-and-a-half-day inspection of the FC’s teaching and research facilities and related aspects of the University. Through in-depth discussions and friendly consultations, an intercollegiate agreement was reached on education cooperation and research collaboration in the fields of common interest. Hopefully, in April, 2012, the FC shall receive three undergraduates and two postgraduates from FCRI to work on their dissertations at GDOU.
During the visit, Mr. Liu Weiguo, chairman of the GDOU Council and Party chief of the University, gave a banquet in honor of the delegation. He addressed to the guests that “Our University adheres to the opening policy. We warmly welcome any form of interuniversity cooperation in the fields of common interest to promote mutual understanding, friendship and benefits.” In his thank-you speech, Mr. Nandeesha stated that he was greatly impressed by the endeavors of Mr. Jian’s teams of teaching and research, hoping that “both colleges shall maintain a close relationship and develop more substantial joint programs for education and research.”
